Health Ministry Bans Sale of Cough Syrup with Codeine over the Counter

The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, Wednesday, said that cough syrups with codeine will henceforth be treated as a narcotic medicine that will not be sold over the counter. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Chukwu expressed concern over the rising abuse of cough syrup with codeine, adding that the ministry was taking drastic steps to regulate the its availability.
